Consent and rights for podcast recording

A great conversation in the booth is not automatic permission to publish everything. This guide covers consent for Podcast recording at Namdazivo, Van Hallstraat 74 in Amsterdam.

Podcast team discuss a consent checklist at a table.

Why consent belongs before release

Podcasts combine speech, sometimes video and often personal data (name, voice, opinions). In the Netherlands, the GDPR applies to privacy, alongside portrait and quotation rules when someone is recognisable. Namdazivo B.V. processes data under our privacy policy; you remain responsible for content and guest rights.

Our table setup suits multiple mics — €110 per recording hour, €240 per episode up to two hours, or €1,650 for eight episodes. Consent should be planned with the booking, not after export.

Who must agree

Every audible guest: hosts, co-hosts, experts and audience in the room. Under 16, parental consent is required. For vulnerable guests, agree sensitive topics upfront.

Employees speaking for a company need that organisation’s mandate. Record who may approve publication and social clips. When unsure, get written agreement before confirming via contact.

What a release checklist contains

  • Participant name and role.
  • Episode(s) and platforms (RSS, YouTube, social clips).
  • Whether excerpts may be reused in trailers.
  • Whether anonymity is requested (no recognisable name in titles).
  • Contact for questions and withdrawal before publish.

Use plain language. Keep a PDF or signed scan beside raw audio — we retain recordings for 12 months, not forever. Companies sharing data should review the data processing agreement.

Personal data and GDPR practice

Voice is personal data once someone is identifiable. Process only what the episode needs. Tell guests who the controller is (usually you as producer, not Namdazivo unless agreed), the purpose and retention.

Website analytics sit outside the booth, but link your privacy policy in show notes if you track listeners — use where required. Form submissions through our site follow the note on contact. If guests ask for data removal, respond within a reasonable time even when platforms cache episodes.

Portrait, quotes and commercial reuse

Recognisable image or voice in promotion needs explicit consent beyond audio release. If you shoot photos in our room, agree who holds copyright and where images may appear. Music beds need their own licences unless we deliver custom audio under separate terms.

Sponsorship and product mentions should be audible and noted where platforms require it. No promises about reach; do promise clarity on how stories will be used.

Withdrawal, corrections and disputes

Offer a pre-publish window to hear edits and flag factual errors. Serious privacy harm may stop release — document that process. After publish, takedowns are not always technically complete; say so upfront.

For context disputes, offer a written response or reasonable clip removal. Legal escalation needs professional advice; see disclaimer — this article is general information, not legal counsel.

Studio workflow

On the day: print the checklist, verify identity, collect signatures before mics open. Engineers handle levels and room noise; hosts guard content and consent. Hours Mon–Fri 10–22, Sat 11–18; reach us via 020 228 7654 and [email protected].

Season package €1,650 suits returning casts — one template, update guest and date per episode. Long speaking blocks? Pair with prepare your voice and plan water breaks like any vocal session.
