Mixing

Your tracks gain balance, depth and movement in our Amsterdam control room, with a dedicated engineer and room for focused feedback.

Engineer mixing at a console in a dim control room.

Mixing is where separate recordings become a song: levels, panning, EQ, compression and effects so vocals, drums and instruments do not fight each other. At Namdazivo in Amsterdam we work offline on your stems so you can listen at home and comment without burning studio hours.

The service suits self-recording artists, bands that tracked in our live room, and producers who want a fresh pair of ears. Sophie Bakker leads the mix; Maarten de Vries joins on technical questions when sessions were recorded here. For delivery rules, read our mixing file guide.

Process

  1. 01

    Intake

You send stems, tempo, references and notes. Within 2 business days we confirm scope, price and timeline.

  2. 02

    First mix

We build a balanced mix, check phase and mono compatibility, and send a listening version via a secure link.

  3. 03

    Revision

You get up to 2 revision rounds with clear notes (louder vocal, drier drums). Extra rounds are billed as stem-check hours.

  4. 04

    Export

After approval we deliver WAV stems or a stereo mix plus short mix notes. We keep project archives for 12 months.

Who this mixing service is for

Singer-songwriters with home recordings, hip-hop producers with dense sessions, rock bands after a day in our 45 m² live room, and electronic acts that tracked vocals in the vocal booth — anyone who wants a consistent, professional result without spending weeks on a DAW alone.

Mixing is not tracking. If you do not have usable stems yet, book recording or a stem review first. For feedback on an existing mix only, use the hourly stem-check rate or contact us.

What to deliver

Per song, send a folder of labelled WAV or AIFF stems, 24-bit and preferably 48 kHz, with no limiter on the mix bus. Include a rough mix, BPM and key. Vocals should be dry when possible; we place reverb and delay in the mix.

The knowledge base article covers folder layout, naming and common export mistakes. If formats are unclear, email [email protected] before uploading.

How a mix project runs

After confirmation and any 30% deposit we schedule your project. The first mix usually arrives within five to ten business days, depending on workload and track length. You listen on your speakers, earbuds and car — the same places streaming listeners use.

Bundle feedback per round: five clear points beat twenty chat messages. That keeps work inside the 2 included rounds. Large arrangements or more than twenty stems may take longer; we state that on the quote.

Approach in the control room

We work in a treated room with nearfields and a second reference pair. Drums get space without masking the bass; vocals stay intelligible without harshness around 2–5 kHz. We do not clone a reference track — your references set direction, not a carbon copy.

Effects and automation appear where the music needs them, not on every bus by default. For projects recorded at Namdazivo, we often already know mic choices and room tone, which saves mix time.

Revisions and stem-check

Each full mix includes 2 revision rounds under the per-track or EP price. One round means one returned mix with your combined notes applied. Small export tweaks after sign-off (start time, fade) are not charged extra.

To sit in while we work, or for a pre-mix second opinion on stems, €85 per hour incl. 21% VAT applies. Beyond 2 rounds we bill time or agree a per-track fee.

Delivery and formats

Default delivery is stereo mix WAV 24/48, ready for mastering. On request we also provide instrumental mix, TV mix or mix-bus stems — mention this at intake. Files arrive by download link; you store them locally.

We keep project files for 12 months, then delete unless you ask for extension. See privacy policy for storage and terms and conditions for ownership and usage.

Pricing and VAT

Consumer prices on this page include 21% VAT. Business clients receive ex-VAT invoices with payment terms under our terms (14 days for B2B where applicable).

Not included

Recording, editing, tuning, time-aligning poorly prepared stems, mastering, artwork and distribution sit outside Mixing. Sample clearance and credits are your responsibility. If you need masters next, book our mastering or an external engineer.

If stems are technically unusable (extreme noise, wrong sample rate without conversion), we pause and discuss repair or re-recording — stated clearly on the quote.

Combine with other services

Many clients track vocals via vocal recording or a band day in the live room, then send stems for mixing. Podcast dialogue is usually handled inside podcast recording; music mixing stays a separate path.

Frequently asked questions

How many stems can I send?

No hard cap, but stay organised: one folder per song, clear names. Above roughly thirty tracks we agree extra time upfront. See the file guide.

Can I attend the mix session?

Yes, by appointment at the stem-check hourly rate when capacity allows within Mon–Fri 10–22, Sat 11–18. Many clients prefer async links.

Do you mix sessions recorded elsewhere?

Yes, if stems meet our technical guidelines. Projects tracked here sometimes carry extra context in the archive.

What if I still want tweaks after two revisions?

Extra rounds are possible for a fee or via €85 per hour. We ask you to batch notes each round to avoid endless loops.

Is mastering included?

No. After mix approval you can book mastering with us or elsewhere. We deliver a mix without streaming loudness normalization baked in.
